RoSPA announces new CEO to drive growth and impact
RoSPA has today appointed a new CEO in its bid to drive a new era of growth and impact.
Rebecca Hickman, who will be RoSPA’s first female chief executive in its 100 year-plus history, will start the role on the 1 April this year. Her appointment comes following the stepping down of previous CEO, Errol Taylor back in October 2023.
Hickman, who has climbed RoSPA’s ranks over the last twenty years, will lead the organisation in the next phase of its journey to becoming a truly member-centric, impact driven charity.
With over two decades of dedicated service, Becky's journey to CEO has been defined by key transformation initiatives. Under her tenure RoSPA’s sales and marketing functions were rebuilt and the now flourishing strategic partnerships division was born.
Becky's visionary leadership extends to societal impact, evidenced by initiatives like the Brighter Beginnings Appeal, aiding vulnerable families and her strategic collaborations with industry giants such as L'Oréal and Berkeley Group, which have secured RoSPA's global influence in health and safety excellence. She was also at the helm of RoSPA’s sector-leading response to the recent REUL Bill.
Commenting on her appointment, Becky Hickman said:
“I am immensely privileged to take the helm as CEO of RoSPA, an organisation with a rich history of promoting safety and preventing accidents. As we embark on this new chapter, I am committed to delivering the solid foundations needed to unleash our ambitions for future growth.
“As with many charities, the pandemic necessitated short-term survivalism within RoSPA, but after working hard to steady the ship, we can now think longer-term and build solid foundations to maximise RoSPA’s impact and drive meaningful change.
“I am hugely fortunate to be backed by a high calibre team and am confident that together, we have the energy and strategic clarity to continue to lead the charge in creating safer environments for all."
Mike Parker CBE, Chairman of RoSPA, said:
"Becky's pivotal leadership in our transformative journey so far highlights her invaluable contribution to RoSPA, and the RoSPA Board made the unanimous decision that she should be CEO. This reflects her outstanding performance and the full support of her fellow Directors, affirming our commitment to progress and strategic direction. Her appointment is well-deserved, and we eagerly anticipate her positive impact."
