National Accident Prevention Strategy campaign update
Alcohol and the workplace: What should employers be doing?
RoSPA policy team meets Sir Stephen Timms MP to drive progress on the National Accident Prevention Strategy.
Highlighting the critical importance of health and safety, our policy team recently met with Sir Stephen Timms MP, Minister for the Department for Work and Pensions. We presented RoSPA’s newly launched National Accident Prevention Strategy (NAPS), which underscores the alarming rise in accidents—up by 42% over the last decade. As well as the social and life-changing impacts of accidents they also impose a staggering estimated £6 billion burden on our already overstretched NHS.
RoSPA emphasised the urgent need for better long-term data gathering and tracking to effectively address the accident crisis. RoSPA advocated for the appointment of a dedicated Minister for accident prevention to make sure that accident prevention is a high priority for government.
