Child Safety Event 2018

Event Background

The theme for 2018's RoSPA Child Safety event was 'Protecting our Future'. The event considered new approaches and good practice in child safety in the home, from core principles of valuing quality of life to evaluating the effectiveness of strategies and programmes.

The event took place in May at the Crowne Plaza Solihull.

RoSPA's Child Safety events are ideal for those who work with children and young families or who are involved in strategic planning for child injury prevention.

Highlights of the event

The 2018 Child Safety Event featured expert speakers from institutions such as Public Health England, Public Health Agency, the University of West England and RoSPA. Some of the key topics covered included:

• Accessible advice for parents and carers of the under 5's
• The National Accident Prevention Strategy – how to get involved
• Reducing Unintentional Injuries in and around the home among children under 5

There were also discussions on key topics such as preventing child accidents caused by cleaning products, getting results in areas that have no legislation and how to carry out effective evaluations.
