RoSPA course helps boost driving training standards in Dubai
Client: Emirates Driving Institute
Service: RoSPA Level 3 International Award for Driver Trainers.
Background: Emirates Driving Institute (EDI) has been in operation since 1991 and is the largest driving school in Dubai. It is part of the Belhasa Group. EDI provides driver license acquisition training courses using its fleet of over 600 vehicles in different vehicle categories. It has over 600 qualified instructors of different nationalities, while over 700,000 students have acquired their driving licenses from EDI since its inception.
The challenge: Mr Abdullah Amer, EDI’s Director of Support Services, told us: “Driving school instructors have a responsibility to ensure that their clients are safe and adhere with the laws and regulations of the road and must monitor and correct the learner's driving behaviour, habits, and mistakes, and provide constructive feedback and guidance. This practice is followed by EDI, but we wanted to improve and enhance the overall quality and bring uniformity amongst all our instructors.”
The solution: Abdullah Amer said: “We did our research for a suitable solution and were satisfied with the content of the RoSPA Level 3 International Award for Driver Trainers course. We chose RoSPA taking into consideration the reputation of the organisation and their immense experience in the field of driving training.
“Some of the criteria we took into consideration were: the ability to meet the necessary required training needs; course content; the presence of a dedicated coach to do practical assessment whilst learning; application of the 'SMART' principle by the training provider; accreditation and reputation.”
Results: According to Abdullah Amer: “Working with RoSPA was a seamless experience, the course was delivered in a very professional and interactive manner and has helped us to excel our teaching methodology to a more advanced level. We would undoubtedly recommend working with RoSPA.
“We are measuring the success of the driver training programme by conducting tests and assessments at regular interval to evaluate the knowledge, skills and behaviour of the instructors before and after the training. This is helping us to track and monitor the impact of the programme on our instructors’ performance and competence.”
