This year RoSPA continued to take huge strides in protecting people from harm caused by accidents, especially in defending the safety of the most vulnerable in society. Focusing firmly on data, we made tackling falls our number one priority. Our ground-breaking Fall Fighter resource aims to educate people with the simple steps that can make a life-changing difference to the number and severity of falls taking place in the home. In addition, our campaign to enshrine better safety standards for stair design into law was advanced when the Government committed to conducting a consultation on updating the Building Regulations to include these standards. We made significant progress in other crucial areas during 2021-22. We were integral to shaping policy on major road safety issues and developed guidance on a range of emerging issues. Our Keeping Kids Safe campaign to reduce the number of domestic accidents involving under 5s continued and has so far run in over 60 areas, helping more than 500,000 families across the country, while the RoSPA-hosted National Water Safety Forum campaigned to reduce drownings and published annual fatality figures, informing national decision-making on water safety. The RoSPA Awards received nearly 2,000 entries from 49 countries, confirming it as the most prestigious and recognised health and safety awards scheme in the world. We also looked to influence and collaborate across the globe, developing a wide range of successful partnerships designed to share our expertise with others. Last year marked our first annual review video, and we’re now pleased to launch our 2021/22 review video, looking back over our work and achievements from a year full of change and challenges. We hope you enjoy it!
