Airbnb Partnership

Airbnb is a global community of Hosts and travellers, which started in 2007 when two Hosts welcomed three guests to their San Francisco home. Airbnb has experienced exponential growth with over 4 million Hosts welcoming more than 1 billion guest arrivals across over 220 countries and regions.

In 2021, Airbnb launched the UK Trust and Safety Alliance, a network of expert organisations that work closely with Airbnb in the UK and provide information and guidance to Hosts and the Airbnb community. RoSPA are delighted to be part of Airbnb’s UK Trust and Safety Alliance as a founding member, which includes Neighbourhood Watch, the National Fire Chief’s Council, Crimestoppers, Get Safe Online, and Race on the Agenda. The Alliance engage with Airbnb Hosts on a quarterly basis through Airbnb’s ‘Meet the Experts’ series and produce guides and information on an ongoing basis.

Our partnership

Accidents in the home result in around 2.7 million visits to accident and emergency departments each year in the UK. Accidents are often dismissed as inevitable, but there is so much we can do to prevent them from happening. By using simple safety measures, we can save lives and prevent the needless devastation that accidents cause.

To inform and educate the Airbnb community about the risk of accidents, Airbnb and RoSPA produced two dedicated guides to help Hosts and guests spot potential hazards and take necessary actions. Tips include how Hosts should ensure they have smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors fitted and how guests can take precautions to keep children safe. Working together to develop these guides will help support Hosts in making their homes safe and welcoming for themselves, their families and guests.
 

RoSPA have also worked with the Trust and Safety Alliance to offer webinars to provide Hosts with vital life-saving advice.
