RoSPA Achievement Award for CHAS members: Celebrating excellence, simplifying entry
Streamline your RoSPA Awards journey with your CHAS membership
At RoSPA, we understand the importance of recognising and celebrating outstanding health and safety practices. Our prestigious Achievement Award highlights your organisation’s commitment to excellence in health and safety performance. However, we also appreciate the administrative burden that sometimes comes with entering awards.
That’s why we’ve partnered with Veriforce CHAS, the trusted compliance and risk management specialist, to significantly streamline the pathway for CHAS members to achieve a RoSPA Achievement Award. As a CHAS member, you’ve already demonstrated compliance with key health and safety topics. Now, via an alternative process, evidence previously submitted for CHAS certification is recognised, reducing duplication when entering our newly introduced RoSPA Achievement Award (CHAS).
Those aiming for higher award levels such as Silver or Gold will still need to follow RoSPA’s full assessment criteria but will benefit from reduced entry requirements.
Why enter the Achievement Award (CHAS)?
Prestige
RoSPA’s awards are globally recognised as the benchmark for health and safety excellence. While CHAS membership confirms compliance, winning a RoSPA award demonstrates your organisation is going above and beyond in safeguarding employees.
Celebrate excellence
Our awards are not about ticking boxes—they’re about recognising the proactive steps your organisation takes towards outstanding safety practices.
Reduced administration
As a CHAS member, you’ve already met many of the requirements for the Achievement Award. This year you’ll experience a more streamlined entry process, with a reduced number of questions and provide less evidence.
How it works
For CHAS members, the RoSPA Achievement Award (CHAS) has been tailored to streamline your entry:
- Reduced question set: Entrants to the CHAS Achievement (Foundation Award) will be required to answer fewer performance questions, focusing on areas that complement your CHAS membership. Making this an ideal introduction to the RoSPA Awards for CHAS members entering for the first time.
- Essential data: Submit your accident, ill-health, and enforcement data.
- Remove duplication: Since your CHAS membership already verifies compliance on a number of health and safety themes covered by the standard Achievement Award, you'll be guided where there's no need to duplicate certain documentation.

Common questions from CHAS members
Do I still need to provide any evidence if I’m a CHAS member?
Yes, but some of the common evidence required for the Achievement Award (CHAS) has already been provided during your CHAS verification.
Will my entry still be held to the same high standards as other RoSPA awards?
Absolutely! While we’ve streamlined the process, the RoSPA Achievement (CHAS) Award is still as prestigious. Our focus remains on recognising excellence, and your submission will be reviewed to the same rigorous standards.
How long will it take to enter the Achievement Award (CHAS)?
With fewer questions and a streamlined evidence submission process, you can expect to complete your entry in significantly less time than the full Achievement Award application.
What makes the RoSPA Achievement Award (CHAS) different from my CHAS certification?
CHAS membership demonstrates compliance with health and safety laws and regulations, while RoSPA celebrates your organisation’s commitment to proactive safety measures that go beyond compliance to achieve outstanding safety practices.
How is your RoSPA Achievement Award (CHAS) assessed?
Once you have submitted your Achievement (CHAS) Award entry, it is assessed by our experienced team of independent health and safety professionals, including specialist consultants and experienced senior practitioners.
Where required, RoSPA adjudicators will reference Health and Safety Executive databases (and their international equivalents) and other sources to verify information on prosecutions and enforcement notices. Entrants may also receive a follow-up telephone call, or a verification visit at any stage, either before or after the closing date.
