RoSPA Level 3 Award in Behavioural Driver Training (International)
The International Diploma has been upgraded to meet RoSPA’s new international standard for driver training. Our international train the trainer’s course is now our new Level 3 Award in Behavioural Driver Training (International). This course has been developed to build awareness through coaching, client centred learning and reflective practice, based on the principles of the Goals for Driver Education. It has been designed for trainers working within organisations or individuals who wish to develop their coaching and driving skills and to gain a coaching qualification from a globally recognised brand.
Overview
The Level 3 Award in Behavioural Driver Training (International) is delivered over 10 days and incorporates both coaching skills and driving ability throughout, providing the theoretical knowledge and practical abilities to be a great trainer!
The course is built around 3 learning outcomes:
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of traffic laws and procedures
- Demonstrate appropriate levels of driving skills with instructional commentary as required
- Demonstrate the ability to coach and facilitate learning in a classroom and on road using a client centered approach
Participants will be required to take and pass 3 final assessments during which they will be given the opportunity to showcase their newly acquired knowledge and skills.
Participants will also need to successfully meet a number of assessment criteria throughout the course in order to meet the stated learning outcomes.
Content
During the course, participants will learn about:
- Driver behaviour and the goals for driver education
- Coaching and client centered learning
- Facilitation skills - including communication, questioning and listening
- The benefits of using a coaching model to structure a learning intervention
- The learning cycle and reflective practice
- IPSGA (information, position, speed, gear, accelerate), the system of car control based on 'Roadcraft' - the UK police handbook
- Space management, hazard management; and the use of instructional commentary as a learning tool
Dates, Prices and Locations
- This qualification consists of a 10 day training course with a minimum of 70 Guided Learning Hours (GLH). This qualification can accommodate 3 delegates per trainer and a separate trainer will be required for the assessment phase of the course to ensure quality control. If there are 4 or more delegates, RoSPA will send two trainers and they will swap groups on the final day for the assessments.
