Make a real difference – become a RoSPA Fall Fighter
Falls are on the rise, and we need your help.
Falls are the single biggest cause of accidental injuries in the home and the largest cause of accidental death among over-65s in the UK. Our free Fall Fighter training aims to create a global community dedicated to fall prevention, and your organisation can play a critical role in this effort.
Why falls matter
Falls have a profound impact on individuals' lives, leading to physical injuries, long-term health effects, disabilities, trauma, mental health issues, loss of mobility, loneliness, social isolation, and loss of independence. Falls also place a significant burden on society, costing the NHS and healthcare systems over £4 billion every year.
But the good news is… this doesn’t have to be the case. By empowering people of all ages with the understanding of why falls happen, who they affect, and what they can do to prevent them, we can all help prevent falls from happening.
What is a Fall Fighter?
A Fall Fighter is somebody who has learnt about falls and how to prevent them. They use the knowledge and skills they’ve learnt in our free awareness session to educate and inspire others in their community.
Why should your organisation get involved?
By helping your employees learn about falls and how to prevent them, you empower them and their families to age well, live healthier lives, and maintain independence. Additionally, educating your team about fall prevention can lead to:
Reduced absenteeism
Minimising fall-related injuries among staff and their families, reducing time off due to caregiving or recovery.
Enhanced employee well-being
Providing knowledge to prevent falls helps your employees lead healthier, more independent lives.
Societal Impact
Reducing the burden on the NHS and social care providers by lowering the incidence of falls in the community.
By incorporating Fall Fighter training session into your employee development programmes, your organisation can make a tangible impact on the well-being of your employees and the wider community.
How to take part
Anyone can become a Fall Fighter - taking part is simple and requires no prior knowledge. Use the powerpoint included in the free resource pack to conduct a self-led workshop during a team meeting or lunch break. The materials are designed for quick and effective delivery, with an average completion time of just 15-20 minutes.
After completing the session, award your employees with a free digital certificate and badge, to recognise their commitment to fall prevention and safety awareness.
